  7. Minutes of the Internet User Glossary Working Group (USERGLOS)

  9. The Userglos Working Group met twice at this IETF. The final
  10. include/exclude pass was completed on the entries in the Glossary.  In
  11. particular, networks were excluded.  Several definitions were found to
  12. be wanting and will be worked on.  It was also decided that there will
  13. be no indices.

  24. The only format decision was whether or not to right-justify the
  25. document.  Joyce pointed out that RFC 1111 requires ``ragged edge''.
  26. The column width will also be increased.
  27.  
  28. It was decided that it was impossible to draw a fair line to determine
  29. which networks (e.g., NSFnet, Ebone, AARNET, NEARnet, etc.)  should be
  30. included and which should be excluded.  Therefore, no networks will be
  31. included.  The exception is ARPAnet, for historical reasons.

  33. It was decided to remove the definitions for standards levels (e.g.,
  34. Experimental, Historical, Recommended, etc).

  36. Overall, the number of entries was decreased.
  37.  
  38. Given the intended audience, and the use to which they will put this
  39. Glossary, it was decided that indices based on an entry category would
  40. not be useful.  That is, the document will be used by people to find the
  41. meaning of a word used by a guru.  We decided that anyone interested in
  42. a list of networks, organizations or protocols would have much more
  43. definitive sources from which to work.
